My Wedding Day
One of the best days of my life! Next to giving birth to my own daughter, which was one of the most wonderful and rewarding experiences of my life - I married the craziest red head ever.
Part of this amazing day meant that I got to become the step mom to 4 amazing kids. I know what you might be thinking... "is this lady ready to be a step mom? She only has 1 kid."
That is the question of the decade!!! Chris and I have been dating for 2 years and I think I have been asking myself that question every day for probably the last year at least. I've stayed up at night staring at my ceiling wondering how I would deal with them rejecting me, calling me names, and the dreaded phrase "YOUR NOT MY MOM!" How would I respond to them saying that to me?! I don't want to be their mom, they have a mom, who they love dearly, and I don't want to take that away from them, so believe me when I tell you that this day has come with a lot turmoil on my end.
But with that said - I feel that all in all, our blended situation was collaborated smoothly and the wedding went wonderfully. (Minus the rain that ruined 80% of our plans, but that is another story....)
When I started researching blended families and step-parenting, there wasn't a whole lot out there. There is a lot of negative content out there. Poor step-moms get a lot of flack - thank you very much to movies like Cinderella. So my intentions of starting this blog was to hopefully help just one person (if not myself by documenting the chaos that happens in our own lives) know that they aren't the only ones going through this alone!
We got this! Piece of cake! Wedding cake!
P.S. I don't know what they made my wedding cake out of - but it was the best cake I've ever had! And I don't even like cake. I wish I could have gotten more than just the 2 bites we exchanged amongst the tykes yelling at us to smash it in each other's faces. But let's think about this....who wants cake in that amazing beard?! Isn't he handsome?!
